Amnesty International: Israel Is Committing Genocide in Gaza with Full U.S. Support

Amnesty International has issued a significant report stating that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, becoming the first major human rights organization to make this claim. The nearly 300-page report analyzes the first nine months of the Israeli war on Gaza, revealing that Israel’s actions have led to widespread death, injury, and mental harm, as well as conditions aimed at the physical destruction of Palestinians in Gaza. Both Israel and the United States have rejected Amnesty’s conclusion. Amnesty researcher Budour Hassan, who studies Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories, defends the organization against criticism, saying its intervention was delayed to ensure careful verification of information. “We tried to be absolutely true to the definition of ‘genocide’ under the Genocide Convention,” says Hassan, who urges U.S. Officials need to do more to stop the violence. The United States has the ability and resources to stop this genocide. Not only has the United States failed to do so, it has consistently awarded Israel. The U.S. has ignored its own laws to supply Israel with weapons used in the Gaza genocide.
